In Power BI, there are multiple ways of searching for a text term inside a text field, you can use Power Query for doing this operation or calculations in DAX. During this session, we will learn how we can find and remove last occurrence from a string using Power BI DAX. This is equivalent to Text Before Delimitator property in Power Query. In Power Query we can get before specific occurrence from string very easily. But how we can achieve the same using Power BI DAX? This video provides a solution for the same. We have taken an example of URL. I want to remove the last path after "/" from the entire URL string. So, how can I achieve this with the help of DAX? We want to split URL string using "/" and remove its last occurrence and we want to achieve everything in DAX. So, we need alternative of Split and Text Before Delimitator alternative in DAX. Case:Evaluate what rows of a particular column contains special characters. In Power Pivot we are using a DAX formula to create a calculated column to check each of the rows of the name table, this will return "special" if that name has any special character from a particular list. this list is dynamic and you or the end user can change, add or delete the characters that needs to be evaluated. In this step-by-step tutorial for beginners, learn how to use DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) in Microsoft Power BI. DAX is a formula language with functions. If you've ever written formulas in Excel, you'll find that DAX is very familiar. We'll start by loading the sample data into a data model. Next, we establish relationships between the various tables. Once the setup is complete, we'll write our first measure. A measure is a calculation that runs across our data model. You'll learn about a few different functions, including sum and count. You'll also learn how to comment your expressions. Next, we create a measure using operators, like addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. We then dive into how you can create measures using a graphical user interface called Quick Measures. We then move onto creating a calculated column and talk about the advantages and disadvantages of columns vs. measures. We then dig into iterator functions and when you would use them compared to an aggregator function. Iterator functions include sumx, countx, averagex, maxx, minx, and rankx. Next, we look at the date functions that are available and we use the one called weekday.
