Squid Proxy Server is a caching and forwarding HTTP web proxy. It has a wide variety of uses, including speeding up a web server by caching repeated requests, caching web, DNS and other computer network lookup for a group of people sharing network resources, and aiding security by filtering traffic. Although primarily used for HTTP and FTP, Squid includes limited support for several other protocols including Internet Gopher, SSL, TLS and HTTPS. Squid does not support the SOCKS protocol. #RHCE #Linux #Tutorial Youtube PlayLists RHCE: 🤍 Shell-Scripting: 🤍 Linux-Commands: 🤍 RHCSA Certification: 🤍 Putty Software Tricks: 🤍 Linux OS: 🤍 Follow Us on Social Media Telegram Group: 🤍 | 🤍 Reddit: 🤍 | 🤍 Mailing List: 🤍 | 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 | 🤍 LinkedIn: 🤍 | 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Google Plus: 🤍 | 🤍 Whatsapp Group: 🤍 Telegram Group: 🤍 AWS Free Tier Account: 🤍

Welcome to our tutorial on how to install and configure a Squid proxy server on pfSense firewall. In this video, we'll cover everything you need to know to get started using Squid Proxy to improve the security and speed of your network. First, let's talk about what a proxy server is and how it can benefit your network. A proxy server acts as an intermediary between clients on a network and the resources they request from other servers. The most common type of proxy is a web proxy, which can improve the speed of your internet connection by caching frequently requested web pages, images, and other files. This is especially useful in corporate networks or internet cafes where many users may be requesting similar content. Not only does a proxy server improve speed, it can also provide added security by logging internet usage and filtering traffic. For example, you can use a proxy server to block access to certain websites or to enforce internet usage policies for your employees. Squid is a full-featured proxy server that supports HTTP, FTP, and other popular network protocols. It can implement caching and proxying of SSL requests, caching of DNS lookups, and transparent caching. In other words, Squid can handle just about any proxying task you throw at it. In this video, we'll show you step-by-step how to install and configure Squid on pfSense firewall. We'll cover how to set up transparent proxying and access controls, and how to monitor Squid's performance. By the end of this tutorial, you'll have a fully functional Squid proxy server up and running on your network. So if you want to improve the speed and security of your network, be sure to watch our tutorial on how to install and configure a Squid proxy server on pfSense firewall. Intercepting HTTPS Traffic Using the Squid Proxy Service in pfSense | How To Cache HTTPS On Squid This is how I setup squid, ClamAV, and splicing for Windows Updates on pfSense. We setup SSL/MITM bumping and splicing for HTTPS traffic as well. You will need to install your certificate created in pfSense as a trusted root certification authority on all clients using the proxy and bumped connections. Squid is a caching proxy for the Web supporting HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and more. It reduces bandwidth and improves response times by caching and reusing frequently-requested web pages. Squid has extensive access controls and makes a great server accelerator. It runs on most available operating systems, including Windows and is licensed under the GNU GPL. Squid is used by hundreds of Internet Providers world-wide to provide their users with the best possible web access. Squid optimises the data flow between client and server to improve performance and caches frequently-used content to save bandwidth. Squid can also route content requests to servers in a wide variety of ways to build cache server hierarchies which optimise network throughput. Thousands of web-sites around the Internet use Squid to drastically increase their content delivery. Squid can reduce your server load and improve delivery speeds to clients. Squid can also be used to deliver content from around the world - copying only the content being used, rather than inefficiently copying everything. Finally, Squid's advanced content routing configuration allows you to build content clusters to route and load balance requests via a variety of web servers. [The Squid systems] are currently running at a hit-rate of approximately 75%, effectively quadrupling the capacity of the Apache servers behind them. This is particularly noticeable when a large surge of traffic arrives directed to a particular page via a web link from another site, as the caching efficiency for that page will be nearly 100% USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: The following procedures may be illegal in some countries. In this video I am going to show you how to install and configure squid proxy to cache Linux packages. I make a lot of video tutorials which requires installation of different softwares on Linux. But my internet is slow. It takes a lot of time to download these when I test everything. It also requires a lot of time when I am doing the actual recording. But it all changed when I set up a squid cache server. Now all the packages I download are cached in the proxy server, which speeds up my download. In this video, I wanna show you how I did it. I am not a squid proxy server pro, I just got it working by some research online. I am using debian 9, it should work the same of ubuntu, fedora, redhat, centos and many other. The installation differs, but the configurations are the same. References: 🤍

Download and install Squid Guard Proxy Server, Squid Proxy Filter and CRON first. 2. Configure first the WPAD Autoconfigure using Putty to access pfsense Console. 3. After the configuration for WPAD, Now it is time to configure the Squid Guard Proxy. Just follow the instruction. Notice: If you are an android user. Please put this address on proxy setting on the phone as android requires: 🤍mainHere/wpad.dat. In manual proxy mode do these: Put the proxy IP address or 🤍mainHere/wpad.dat and then, the proxy port 3128. Cons: Mobile apps does not work when you put this proxy address manually. Only on device internet browser is allowed to access to the net. Suggestion: For android user. Please enable the Transparent Proxy from the pfsense proxy server. Don't worry, it's just fine if you enable it. Auto-config will still work. And when you do that, please remove proxy address "🤍main/wpad.dat" from your phone. Pros: Works better on the computers on the device as well with a little consideration.

Squid Proxy Server: Squid is a caching and forwarding HTTP web proxy. It has a wide variety of uses, including speeding up a web server by caching repeated requests, caching web, DNS and other computer network lookups for a group of people sharing network resources, and aiding security by filtering traffic. Although primarily used for HTTP and FTP, Squid includes limited support for several other protocols including Internet Gopher, SSL,[6] TLS and HTTPS. Squid does not support the SOCKS protocol, unlike Privoxy, with which Squid can be used in order to provide SOCKS support.
