Which M43 camera is the cinema king? Honestly, whichever one fits your shooting style and workflow best. We did a quick side-by-side comparison of the Blackmagic Pocket 4k, the Z Cam E2-M4, and the Panasonic GH5. The goal was to show how each camera would handle dynamic range, complex motion, moire/aliasing, and skin tones. VERDICT? Honestly, you're splitting hairs between the BMPCC4k and the Z Cam. It will really come down to feature set and form factor. But for me, the GH5 is going to take a backseat to the M4. This is a brief prelude to my full review of the Z Cam E2-M4. This is an incredible camera that continues to impress me. My opinions at the moment: - I am very surprised how different each camera sounds. I didn't expect the cameras to change the sound profile to the microphone. - To my ears, the Z Cam's in camera audio is IMPRESSIVE. It's cleaner than the GH5/XLR1 combo, and isn't coloring the audio. I'm noticing that the GH5 may be boosting the mids and highs a bit. - The ZCam color makes my GH5 look atrocious. As I'm working towards my head-to-head with the Panasonic GH5 and Z Cam E2-M4, I've been encountering a hilarious amount of hostility. I naively assumed that being a big fan of the GH5 would shield me from these aggravated assaults. To my dismay, I've even been told I can't compare these two cameras. So, I figured I'd have some fun as I conduct my micro four thirds head-to-head, and do a bit of a meta-review. So for the prologue to this saga, I wanted to try both of them out in an indie filmmaking scenario, which also gave me the opportunity to test their respective WiFi apps. I'll follow up with a BTS soon. For now, I LOVE the Z Cam app. Coming form the GH5, it's far more robust and user-friendly (aside from having to enter a password, and not knowing what that password is). Filmed on the Panasonic GH5 in VLog-L and Z Cam E2-M4 in ZLog2. Standard LUTs applied with minor color temperature correction and tone adjustments. = QUESTIONS?? = I love hearing from y'all. Do they match? Will they cut together? Which one is cleaner? I compare the Z CAM E2, BMPCC 4K, and Lumix GH5s. All three of these cameras feature the same or similar dual ISO sensor, which makes them very comparable. In this video I look at side-by-side clips from all three, pointing out differences and unique characteristics of each. Specifically, I cover noise, shadow recovery, rolling shutter, relative ISO, and color. This is the first video in a three-part comparison series. Part 2 - High Frame Rates: 🤍 Part 3 - Color: 🤍 You can download all of the footage at this link: https:ninja.click/3cam_footage This was shot using three Canon 35mm FD tilt shift lenses (with no tilt or shift applied) and three Helios 44/44-2 lenses. Why? Because those are the only lenses that I could easily get three of. Also, no lens-specific corrections are applied when using manual lenses like these. The GH5s applies in-camera corrections for barrel distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting to native m4/3 lenses. All clips from the E2 were shot in 10bit 4:2:0 H.265 ZLog. The GH5s was shot in 10 bit 4:2:2 H.264 VLog. The BMPCC 4K was shot in both 12 bit Cinema DNG RAW 3:1 and 10 bit ProRes HQ. No sharpening or noise reduction was performed. The sharpness settings in each camera were turned all the way down where possible. Color correction and grading was performed entirely manually. No LUTs or plugins were used. I wasn't going for beautiful, but more technically correct and matching the other cameras. It seems that my experience with oversaturated reds is an issue with DaVinci Resolve. Tested my two cams and put them up against each other today. This was a fairly quick test...will be doing more in depth testing soon. Let me know which camera you like and what you think looks best. Settings were the same. ISO 400. Aperture f2. Lens is 55 1.8 Takumar. Shutter 1/60. SLR Magic VND. The VND was adjusted slightly for the P6k, because the F6 is a brighter image due to the larger sensor. As far as color grading goes...same process applied... just basic contrast and saturation added...and 3 way corrector to the same levels on the RGB Parade. Im sure there is a way to be even more scientific, but I did my best CLIPS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD HERE: 🤍 *EDIT* In hindsight, I think this test is slightly flawed as I shot both cameras at F2. On the Zcam, this is a much smaller focus window due to the full frame sensor, so I think parts of the video where the zcam may look a bit softer may have to do more with focus, as you can see some of the zcam footage looks sharper than the P6k when its in the focus sweet spot, and the magnified footage, the zcam is clearer. I will be doing an additional test at a higher aperture to really see how these are comparing. Just my two cents.

I am not suggesting that anyone should select an iPhone 12 instead of a GH5 for professional work; however, I was wondering if I could use an iPhone 12 for a extra angle on my multi-cam video shoots. I took a couple of stills from 4K video and had little look. Of course this not a comprehensive comparison, but I think the results are very interesting. I certainly think that in my work, I could certainly use an iPhone in a multicam shoot. I also threw in stills captured from the BMPCC 4K and the Z Cam E2 that I was able to extract from footage I got from Tom Antos. I think you should try and watch this in 4K. Today we check out something we've never actually come across before. And thats a camera that can record in 4k 120fps. Which is pretty darn impressive for any price point but being able to get it below $2000 is pretty mind blowing. Now while I've been able to record in 4k 120fps I can't actually see it because once my SSD was formatted to use with the Z Cam its no longer detectable by my iMac. The Z CAM E2-S6 and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K have very similar features, which makes them ideal for a comparison. They have 6K, Super 35, dual ISO sensors, high dynamic range, and both produce very lovely images. PLEASE NOTE: my color settings affected the pre-grade appearance of the BRAW clips, but not the final results. #ZCAM #E2-M4 #GH5 Notes: I am new to the video thing and had all this new video gear but was stuck with what to shoot.One of Jake Frew’s videos talked about this. His solution was to find music that would inspire some ideas. I liked that, so that is what I did. The original idea was to find the right music then generate ideas from that. I thought to make it a “mulit-artistic” exercise: generate a story board of ideas from the music, write a poem connected to the storyboard (well I tried to get my friend who could really write poetry to do that but couldn’t get her to bite…so yeah it was me). Then use these to generate a short (less than 4 min) video, the music basically determining the timeline. The results are here. Pretty amateurish (especially the poem) but it did get me out and make a video. The music was definitely the template for the video, generating the images in my head which I could put into the story board and then adapted to make each of the scenes. Technically it is far from perfect but it did tell the story and, in the end, became a rather personal creation.
